Many suspect the Mayweather vs Pacquiao boxing fight to be the biggest event in combat sports history, and both world champions are training diligently to put on a show in front of the millions watching both in attendance on May 2nd in Las Vegas, Nevada and those watching on pay-per-view (PPV).
With the fight less than a month away, sparring has heated up for both men as they train for the biggest fight of their lives.
While you would likely suspect both boxers to be training with other elite pugilists in order to emulate each other's styles, you may be shocked to find out that Pacquiao is actually sparring with a former UFC fighter.
Who could it be? Maybe Chuck Liddell, Forrest Griffin, Georges St-Pierre?
Nope. "Pac Man" is training with Dashon Johnson according to ESNews.com, who went 0-2 inside the Octagon after racking up nine victories in a row in the Xplode Fight Series against cans.
Talk about anti-climactic.
While I am sure "Money" isn't exactly shaking in his boots after learning of Pacquiao's new training partner, Johnson is ecstatic for the opportunity to train with a legendary boxer.
His words to ESNews:
"Honestly, it's a dream come true. Watching Manny over the years, and seeing him progress, and him actually having me in camp for arguably the biggest fight in history, it's honestly a blessing."
Ironically, Johnson was cut from UFC last November when he violated his ZUFFA contract by taking a boxing fight on short notice, which he lost in a 10-round decision.
We're a little less that a month away from the biggest boxing match in recent memory as Floyd Mayweather Jr. is (finally) set to take on Manny Pacquiao in a fight for the ages on May 2, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada (details). And while you are sure to get a full dose of promotion in the lead-up to the mega fight, we have your peek at the first official commercial promo courtesy of HBOBoxing. So take it all in folks, because pretty soon it will be time for both pugilists to put their money where their mouths are. Actually, Floyd already got a head start...literally.
