Al Iaquinta is mad ... REAL MAD.
"Ragin'" Al went on a rampage after he was declared the winner via split decision over Jorge Masvidal in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 63, which took place earlier this afternoon (April 4, 2015) from inside Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia.
Indeed, after surviving a near finish in the first round, Iaquinta battled back and took Masvidal to the judges scorecards. It was then, after the judges rendered their decisions -- and the crowd voiced its collective displeasure -- that Iaquinta lost his mind and cursed out the crowd.
Hard to blame him -- he turned in a gutsy performance (read full recap here). Masvidal, meanwhile, showed no sense of urgency, perhaps confident that he had the first round in the bag by a wide margin and just needed to coast for the final two to secure his fourth straight victory.
It was a costly strategy, especially when mixed martial arts (MMA) judging is so unpredictable. In fact, the one judge who scored the fight in Masvidal's favor had it 30-27, which isn't all that far-fetched.
Regardless, Iaquinta was the busier, more aggressive fighter for the final two rounds, landing significant strikes here and there, which was apparently enough in the eyes of at least two.
Albeit the most important two. How about you?
