Another GLORY title is heading back to Canada.

Gabriel Varga became the second Canuck to win a title in GLORY after defeating Mosab Amrani by unanimous decision at GLORY 20 on Friday (April 3, 2015) from the Dubai World Trade Centre in Dubai, U.A.E. He joins welterweight champion "Bazooka" Joe Valtellini as the two GLORY champions who reside in the Great White North.

Varga turned in a great performance against "The Jaguar" and got the nod on all three judges scorecards, 50-46, 48-47,and 49-46.

The Canadian looked sharp right out of the gate and never really wavered throughout the fight. He was able to land a left hook to the body and to the head of Amrani with a great deal of success over the course of the fight. Varga proved once again he can be very technical on the outside, and, also, that he was willing to get in the pocket at times when Amrani was attacking and swinging wildly and fight the Moroccan on his terms.

"I am tall in this weight class and usually I could keep a guy out at range and fight from distance, and that is what my coaches want me to fight like," Varga explained after the fight's conclusion. "But I don't know, I just like getting into wars and if someone steps in and wants to do that then I will usually oblige him and have a short-range battle."

One of their early exchanges led to an accidental clash of heads, which opened a cut on Amrani's face, but it didn't become a detriment. "The Jaguar" did have some success during the bout, but Varga was always in control of the action and the more effective striker.

With the victory, Varga improves to 11-2 overall and 5-1 in GLORY.

Defeating the No.1-ranked GLORY featherweight to win the first GLORY featherweight title was a career highlight for the Canadian, who used to struggle just to get opportunities to fight.

"It means a lot to me to beat a guy with a name like Mosab Amrani," he said. "You are talking about a guy who has been at the top level for years. I used to watch him back in the day before I was anyone. To fight and beat him is a big thing for me."
