Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will eliminate one top contender from the 145-pound title hunt, as Chad Mendes and Ricardo Lamas collide in today's (Sat., April 4, 2014) main event of UFC Fight Night 63, locked and loaded for the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia.
The entire event will be televised on FOX Sports 1.
Mendes (16-2) is coming off a razor-thin decision loss to featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo at the UFC 179 pay-per-view (PPV) event last October. Prior to his second loss in as many tries against the Brazilian, "Money" was just that, racking up five straight wins with four violent finishes.
Another victory gets him right back into the championship conversation and could, conceivably, face the winner of "Aldo vs. McGregor," who slug it out in the UFC 189 main event this summer.
First he has to get through Lamas (15-3), who also took Aldo to the cards back in 2014. "The Bully" is 6-1 since crossing over from World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) and holds notable wins over Cub Swanson and Dennis Bermudez, among others.

Best of all, you still get your Saturday night!
