With Jon Jones stripped of his title and suspended indefinitely, Anthony Johnson and Daniel Cormier will fight for the now-vacant UFC light heavyweight title at UFC 187 on May 23, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada. That fight was announced on FOX Sports Live on Tuesday evening.
"DC" is currently the slight favorite over "Rumble" at -150.
That's the opening line, according to Bovada, who pegs Johnson as the +120 underdog.
Cormier, who was scheduled to face Ryan Bader at UFC Fight Night 68 on June 6, 2015, will fight for the 205-pound title for the second time in as many fights this year. At UFC 182 back in January, the Olympian lost to Jones by unanimous decision.
Johnson earned his shot at the title after a one-sided drubbing of Alexander Gustafsson on the UFC on FOX 14 card, which also took place in January. "Rumble" has won three straight since he returned to the Octagon and the UFC 187 showdown against Cormier will be his first career title fight.
That betting line, however, will likely change before Memorial Day Weekend as the late money starts to trickle in.
