Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones made his first public comments since being arrested on felony hit-and-run charges in Albuquerque, N.M., earlier this week.
And it came via Twitter.com after what can only be described as an agonizing day spent in front of a judge and then a triumvirate of really important UFC people, including company president Dana White, CEO Lorenzo Fertitta and COO Lawrence Epstein.
And then, of course, losing his world title and getting suspended indefinitely by the promotion (read shocking details here).
Jones,' wisely, kept the social message short and sweet:
Got a lot of soul searching to do. Sorry to everyone I've let down.
— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) April 29, 2015
Of course, Jones brought all this grief on himself, like he often does with his immature and irresponsible behavior outside the cage.
If driving drunk and crashing a car wasn't enough of a wake up call two years ago in combination with a record-setting short stint in drug treatment for cocaine use earlier this year -- and whatever else happened between -- it's impossible to get a read on Jones.
But, perhaps, stripping him of his coveted 205-pound world title will finally trigger positive personal change.
