Ultimate Fighting Championship's (UFC) lone Olympic Gold medalist representative will step back into the Octagon this Summer when he takes on the always dangerous Chico Camus at the UFC 188 pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for Sat., June 13, 2015 inside the Arena Ciudad de México in Mexico City, Mexico.
UFC announced the bout on Friday.
Cejudo (8-0) made his 125-pound UFC debut this past March, handily defeating former No. 1 contender Chris Cariaso at UFC 185. That fight was his second straight Octagon win, as "The Messenger" outclassed Dustin Kimura in a bantamweight fight last December after being forced to the 135-pound weight class by UFC brass following his weight-cutting disaster at UFC 177.
As for Camus (14-5, 1 NC), the former bantamweight challenger recently cut down to 125 pounds as well, winning an impressive -- but excruciatingly close -- split decision over Brad Pickett. Now ranked No. 14 in the division, the Milwaukee native will look to become the first man to hand a loss to Cejudo in MMA.
With Cejudo stationed at No. 9 in the rankings, this fight can catapult either man into the top five, and potentially even earn the winner a shot at UFC gold.
UFC 188 will feature the long-awaited return of UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, where he will unify the titles against the interim champ Fabricio Werdum.
