Despite channeling her inner Nick Diaz, Sarah Kaufman's attempts to pick a fight with Miesha Tate earlier this year proved fruitless.
That's because "Cupcake" is really good at ducking fights, according to Kaufman, who tells MMA Fighting that she's still irked by the fact that the former Strikeforce women's bantamweight champion declined her request to tango once again.
Her words:
"I did anything and everything possible to make that fight happen. That's on Miesha's end of things. I don't think that she'll ever want to take that fight again. I'll keep pushing for it, because I think it's such an exciting fight in the division. Tate kind of has a smirk on her face most of the time and you just want to slap that smirk off of it. I'd be good at that. I've done it once before and I want to do it again. But she's good at ducking fights and ignoring attention that she doesn't want to get from a fight. As soon as she wants something, she's all over social media. I do something that gets a lot of attention -- it was funny, it was a tasteful call out. Let's do it. Let's get this fight going. Let's get people excited. People are excited. She chooses to ignore it, but will answer every other, 'Hey Miesha, what color are you going to dye your hair next?' question from everyone else."
Of course, Kaufman already has a win over "Cupcake," defeating her way back in 2009 under the now-defunct Strikeforce banner. Fast forward six years later, and both women are top contenders under the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) umbrella, but their paths have yet to cross inside the Octagon.
But, it's not for a lack of trying on Kaufman's part. And you can't totally blame Tate, either, as she responded to Sarah's call outs by revealing that she couldn't take a fight against her -- or anyone else, for that matter -- at that time due to a broken orbital bone.
For now, both ladies have different challenges ahead, as Kaufman takes on Alexis Davis for the third time at this weekend's (April 25, 2016) UFC 186 pay-per-view (PPV) event in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. As for Tate, she is booked to face off against Jessica Eye at UFC on FOX 16 on July 25, 2015 in Chicago, Illinois, in what will be a title eliminator fight.

After that, perhaps the stars will align and Kaufman will have the chance to slap the smirk off Tate's face, yet again.
