When looking at the most powerful punchers in all of mixed martial arts (MMA), Anthony Johnson is sure to be at the top of the list.
So when Jon Jones steps into the cage to face "Rumble" in the UFC 187 pay-per-view (PPV) main event on May 23, 2015 inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, he will have an obvious power disadvantage against the hulking 205-pound challenger.
Something not completely lost on "Bones."
Still, brute strength and punching power aside, as someone who has tasted both of their strengths and skills inside the Octagon, Alexander Gustafasson says Jones will prove victorious on Memorial Day Weekend to retain his title based on his overall skill set.
Check out his analysis on The MMA Hour (via MMA Fighting):
"Oh, he (Johnson) hits harder than Jones, yeah, Rumble, when he connects, you feel it. That's what Jones has to be careful of, his power. When he comes with the pressure, he has really good pressure. He's really dangerous as a light heavyweight."
He continues:
"It's a tough call. I think Jones will win the fight, because he has more leverage and he has a little bit more, he mixes things up, as everyone knows. So I think he will win this fight. But that said, Rumble is a great fighter, and a great person and he's heavy handed. So, you know, anything can happen in a fight. You have to keep your chin down and your hands up. I'm very excited for that fight."
"Rumble" has shown time and again that one well-placed punch from his cement-like fist can end the fight in the blink of an eye.
And since Johnson has proven he can take a few punches to deliver his own, the power-lacking champion, Jones, has to be on point with all of his skills to sneak out with the win in "Sin City."
