Former Strikeforce heavyweight champion and current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 265-pound contender Alistair Overeem has a habit of making friends wherever he trains.
And you know what they say, with friends like these...
"Demolition Man," who fights Roy Nelson at UFC 185 this weekend in Dallas, Texas, was briefly training at the Blackzilians camp in South Florida, where he earned the name "Alistair Overshit" from this top light heavyweight. Looks like we can also add Matt Mitrione to that list of disgruntled ex-teammates.
From his conversation with FOX Sports:
"I just don't like Overeem. I'd like to see him lose. I don't like him as a human being. He is a smug, arrogant man. He came to the Blackzilians and ostracized himself almost immediately. He's such a prima donna that he really thinks that people care about what he does and how he does it. He'd come in and work out at, like, 11:30 at night so nobody else could see what he was doing."
At least he wasn't hospitalized.
Mitrione will also see action in the near future, having drawn Ben Rothwell for a UFC Fight Night 68 showdown on June 6 in New Orleans (more on that here). A win over "Big Ben" -- coupled with a victory by "The Reem" -- could set these two on a 265-pound collision course.
Who would win?
