UFC Fight Night 62: Josh Koscheck replaces Ben Saunders, fights Erick Silva on short notice

Wait... Josh Koscheck?

Sorry Benson Henderson fans, "Smooth" won't be the saving grace for the upcoming UFC Fight Night 62 event.

Brazilian outlet Combate are reporting that Josh Koscheck -- who was brutally choked out by Jake Ellenberger only a week ago at UFC 184 -- will be stepping up on two weeks' notice to take on the dangerous Erick Silva following Ben Saunders' untimely injury that forced him off the card.

It has to come as a major shock that UFC brass opted to bring in "Kos" to fight the Brazilian finishing machine, especially when you consider how the former No. 1 contender has performed in his last several Octagon appearances. Koscheck currently boasts a 17-9 record, but The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season one veteran has lost four straight dating back to 2012.

While some called for Koscheck to hang up his gloves following his loss to Ellenberger, UFC officials decided to give him a fight only three weeks later against another very dangerous opponent. In 17 career victories, Silva has vanquished 14 of his foes.

Doesn't make much sense.

The marred UFC Fight Night 62 event is scheduled to air live on FOX Sports 1 on March 21, 2015 inside Maracanazinho Gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
