I know (Cyborg) personally and she's a very nice gal. If you judge a book by the cover, you will be wrong about her. That said, the only person holding up that fight is her. Ronda Rousey is at 135 pounds in the UFC. She'll fight any 135 pound woman out there. Cyborg is not in the UFC and she is not 135 pounds.
Cris seems to be the one that wants the fight, but she's also the one holding it up. I appreciate her callouts and the intensity behind them, but the reality is still that she's dragging her feet here. She has to get to 135 to get into the UFC. That's all she has to do.
Stop me if you have heard this one before! Following in Dana White's shoes, former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight contender Chael Sonnen recently told Bloody Elbow that Cris Cyborg's weight is the sole reason she has yet to fight UFC champ Ronda Rousey in a women's mixed martial arts (WMMA) "super fight." While Cyborg herself has promised to try to make 135 pounds once more -- after her first failed attempt -- the Brazilian still believes "Rowdy" is scared to fight her. According to Sonnen, all of Cyborg's trash talk is hogwash considering UFC brass would happily bring her in for a title fight if she simply made the bantamweight limit. Considering Rousey herself apparently wants to fight Cyborg, the yellow brick road has been laid out for the Invicta FC featherweight champion. Now will she seize her opportunity while the iron is still hot?
