Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) No. 1 middleweight contender Vitor Belfort complained earlier this week that the athletic commissions are essentially picking on him by subjecting him to seven drug tests while his opposition -- UFC middleweight kingpin Chris Weidman -- has only been tested once in that same time span.
"The Phenom" is expected to face off against "The All American" for the 185-pound strap in the upcoming UFC 187 pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event, which takes place on Sat., May 23, 2015 inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Barring any more injuries of course.
Just a day after Belfort's initial comments, Weidman responded to his foe on Twitter:
I guess he forgot he failed SEVERAL drug tests and part of his punishment was increased testing 4 the rest of his career

that being said I am open for being tested any day and any time!

The UFC champ recently reiterated that he has never once dabbled in performance enhancing drugs (PED), so it should come as no surprise that Weidman is up for any and all tests prior to UFC 187.
With UFC brass recently unveiling their brand new -- and far more rigorous -- drug testing program, Weidman will definitely get what he is asking for as more tests are certainly on the way.
Let's just hope for no more surprises.
