Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is finally making its debut in Philippines with UFC Fight Night 66 inside Pasay's SM Mall of Asia Arena on May 16, 2015, and is beefing up its FOX Sports 1 mixed martial arts (MMA) fight card with a couple of intriguing fights in the middleweight and welterweight divisions.
First up is the 185-pound contest pitting the hot-and-cold Gegard Mousasi opposite Costas Philippou. Mousasi (36-5-2) has alternated wins and losses since his Octagon debut back in early 2013, having recently smashed Dan Henderson in Sweden.
Philippou (13-4, 1 NC), meanwhile, is fresh off a knockout win over the venerable Lorenz Larkin and in the process, has ignored the call of Uriah Hall by looking to win back-to-back fights for the first time in over two years at the expense of the "Dreamcatcher."
That's not all.
In welterweight action, Hyun Gyu Lim (13-4-1) will try to replicate his winning performance against Takenori Sato (knockout) last September in Japan when he collides with Neil Magny (14-3). "The Ace" will have a tough hill to climb, as the Illinoisan is the winner of six straight and gets better each time out.
Fun fight.
UFC Fight Night 66 will be headlined by a thrilling 145-pound showdown between ex-UFC lightweight kingpin Frankie Edgar and former WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber. To see who else is competing this spring in Manila check out the latest and greatest fight card and rumors right here.
