There's been a big change to tonight's (March 28, 2015) World Series Of Fighting (WSOF) 19 card in Phoenix, airing live on NBC Sports Network from the Comerica Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona.
As the "Prelims" were in progress, Bas Rutten and Kenny Rice announced that Matt Hamill got sick earlier in the day and was scratched from tonight's card. Shortly thereafter WSOF confirmed via press release that Hamill was unable to compete due to illness, meaning that an anticipated co-main event rematch with Thiago Silva was now off the show.
To compensate for this very late change on tonight's card, WSOF juggled two fights and did away with a third altogether. In the light heavyweight tournament, Thiago Silva will now be taking on Teddy Holder, who was originally scheduled for a light heavyweight reserve bout with Jake Heun.
Heun's not out of luck though as former UFC fighter Clifford Starks moves up from a preliminary bout with Eddie Arizmendi to take Holder's place. Eddie Arizmendi, himself a late replacement for Krasimir Mladenov for the bout with Starks, is now off the card altogether.
So again to summarize the new line-up for the television broadcast tonight:
* Justin Gaethje vs. Luis Palomino – for the lightweight title
* Teddy Holder vs. Thiago Silva – light heavyweight tourney opening round
* Jake Heun vs. Clifford Starks – light heavyweight reserve bout
* Timur Valiev vs. Ed West
