GLORY 20 predictions contest: Win free stuff, look smart!

The March Madness continues at … combat sports style!

While teenagers bounce an orange ball up-and-down a hardwood court, grown men are preparing for ferocious battle at GLORY 20, which takes place today (Fri., April 3, 2015) inside Dubai World Trade Centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

It's another one-night, four-man Middleweight contender tournament for the foremost kickboxing league on the planet. And it once again gives us another incredible opportunity to giveaway really cool shit just because, well, we're cool as shit.

Like what, exactly? Well, GLORY told us they want to outfit one lucky — and prediction-accurate — reader with a bag full of gear, as well as a signed Leone fight glove, featuring the four talented GLORY 20 contenders.

Here are the match ups:

  • Match up #1: Dutch kickboxing specialist Jason "Psycho" Wilnis (23-4-1, 6 KOs) meets powerful Brazilian prospect Alex "Po Atan" Pereira (17-2-0, 10 KOs)
  • Match up #2: American knockout artist Wayne Barrett (5-2-0, 4 KOs) against Canadian Muay Thai world champion Simon "Bad Bwoy" Marcus (40-2-1, 24 KOs)

So what do YOU have to do to win? Fill out a perfect bracket, of course.

Only instead of trying to blindly pick 64 games you didn't even know about a week ago, you only have to make four correct selections in the comments section below. One entry per user name ... so make it count!

Here they are:

  1. Match up #1 winner
  2. Match up #2 winner
  3. Final winner
  4. Round, method and time of final match (i.e. Wilnis in round three via technical knockout at 3:37.)

Super, super simple.

And there is no reason to not give it a shot. It will make the Spike TV special that much more exciting next Friday night. It's not like you've got better things to do. Become an legend, and a GLORY poster boy, one small contest at a time.

You're welcome!

Key GLORY 20 story lines to help you fill out (not bust) your perfect bracket:

  • Jason Wilnis and Alex Pereira faced each other once previously and Wilnis won. It was very early in Pereira's career and he has greatly improved since. Has he improved enough to win this rematch?
  • Wayne Barrett and Simon Marcus both lost their last fights. A tournament win here would not only get each out of the loss column, but would put them on a win streak with two wins in a row. There's big risk (because each guy is so good), but big reward. Barrett is an elite talent, but has very few pro fights under his belt, whereas Marcus is very experienced and was considered by many to be one of the best Muay Thai fighters in the world. He was knocked out by Joe Schilling and some are questioning whether his Muay Thai (clinching, knees and elbows) style can translate.
  • If Barrett and Wilnis advance, this would also be a rematch. They squared off at GLORY 18 in Oklahoma and Wilnis dominated the fight. Wilnis was able to work Barrett's legs in the first round which drastically changed the fight. Can he do it again? Can Barrett counter the Dutch style with his more traditional boxing and big power?
  • All the tournament participants have previously competed in at least one other GLORY tournament: Marcus (Last Man Standing), Barrett (Last Man Standing), Pereira (GLORY 14), Wilnis (GLORY 10 and GLORY14)
