Another one bites the dust.
In a week that has already seen the injury bug claim UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw, surging lightweight contender Paul Felder, and the now retired veteran middleweight Nick Catone, the latest injury culprit is No. 2 ranked women's strawweight Claudia Gadelha.
The Nova Uniao product was expected to face off against Aisling Daly on the UFC Fight Night 64 event, scheduled to air live on UFC Fight Pass on April 11, 2015 inside the Kraków Arena in Kraków, Poland.
MMA Fighting reported earlier today that the top ranked contender injured her back in training and has been forced to withdraw from what could have been a No. 1 contender bout.
Gadelha was likely hoping a win over Daly next month would help her earn a rematch against UFC 115-pound champ Joanna Jędrzejczyk, who snapped the Brazilian's undefeated record in mixed martial arts (MMA) back in December via a hotly contested split decision.
UFC has yet to officially announce Gadelha's injury, but it seems for now the fight is off.
As for Daly, she will likely be pulled from the card unless matchmakers have a last minute stand in for the Poland event.
