UFC rankings updated after UFC Fight Night 62: Demian Maia, Amanda Nunes climb the ranks after impressive wins in Brazil

New, comments

Unfortunately for Erick Silva, his first-round victory over Josh Koscheck wasn't good enough to get him into the top 15.

The official Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) rankings have been updated following the UFC Fight Night 62 event, which went down this past weekend (Sat., March 21, 2015) inside Ginasio do Maracanazinho in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

For complete "Maia vs. LaFlare" results click here.

In the main event of he evening, Demian Maia made a successful return to the Octagon after a 10-month layoff by smothering Ryan LaFlare for 25 minutes en route to a unanimous decision win (video replay here). That win was good enough to move the jiu-jitsu specialist up one spot to No. 6.

As for LaFlare, his first loss caused him to to fall a spot down to No. 15.

In the co-main event of the evening, Erick Silva choked out Josh Koscheck in the very first round (see it again here). Unfortunately for the Brazilian bomber, Silva's performance wasn't good enough to get him into the top 15. And after topping Shayna Baszler in the first round, Amanda Nunes inched herself up to No. 8 in the women's bantamweight division.

That's not all.

Here's what the rest of the field looks like courtesy of UFC.com. Note: (+/- = movement in rankings, *NR = Not previously ranked).
