Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight titleholder Ronda Rousey will put her strap on the line against undefeated 135-pound contender Bethe Correia at the upcoming UFC 190 pay-per-view (PPV) main event, expected to go down inside HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Aug. 1, 2015.
UFC president Dana White made the bout official during today's (March 20, 2015) UFC 189 press conference to promote the upcoming title fight between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor (replay here).Check out "Rowdy's" staredown with "Pitbull" here.
Ronda and Bethe were in attendance to promote the fight, and the champ was spitting fire ahead of the much-anticipated title fight, warning her foe that come fight night she will be disciplined and leave the Octagon embarrassed.
"I would definitely say that this is a personal fight. My dad had a great saying when someone needed to be shown whatsup. And he would say, 'this person needs to have a come to Jesus meeting.' And Bethe is going to have her own come to Jesus meeting in Brazil. I'll come right down here, I promised the Brazilian fans I'd do whatever I could to come down here and fight. I meant my promise and I am happy to come down here and entertain you guys while I discipline this girl."
So why so touchy?
It all stems from Bethe's non-stop trash talk and the fact that the Brazilian bomber already defeated two of the "Four Horsewomen," as she she topped Jessamyn Duke and Shana Baszler in consecutive fights. And when you "fuck" with Rousey's family, your "fucked" yourself.
"I understand Bethe's tactics and I understand why she went about things the way she did. But just because I understand it doesn't mean that it's okay. The fact is, in order to get a title shot as quickly as possible, she disrespected my friends which I consider my family. And if you fuck with my family then you are fucked."
Ear muffs!
"Rowdy" has been gunning for the Brazilian for several months, even demanding the fight from UFC President Dana White. Now that she has it, it's time to stand up and deliver.
The waiting game begins.
