UFC Quick Quote: Jon Jones will not label Anderson Silva as a 'cheater'

Friends don't call each other cheaters.

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

"When you go through a situation like he's gone through, there's a lot of medical people that are gonna advise you to do this or that to heal yourself. I'll never look at Anderson [Silva] as a cheater. What he's been able to accomplish throughout his career is just unbelievable. He's still a guy I admire and look up to tremendously and I'm pulling for him to just get through all this and continue being the champion that he's been."

When Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight kingpin Jon Jones fell on tough times following a positive drug test for cocaine and a one-night stint in rehab in January, former longtime middleweight champion Anderson Silva stood by "Bones" side throughout the ordeal. Now Jones is reciprocating the favor, as "The Spider" is the one who is the subject of major scrutiny following failed drug tests for performance enhancing drugs (PED) in both his pre-fight and post-fight test for his UFC 183 victory over Nick Diaz. The light heavyweight champ was asked by a fan during the "Welcome to the Show" press conference this past weekend (replay here) what he thought about the Silva fiasco, and while Jones admitted he does not condone PED's, he would not label Silva a cheater. Just about 24 hours after "Bones" made his comments, it was reported that "The Spider" will admit to PED usage in order to heal his broken leg he sustained at UFC 168. What do you think? Is the former longtime champ a cheater, or was he simply doing everything he could to get back into the Octagon?
