Report: Ronda Rousey vs. Bethe Correia main event in the works for UFC 190 in Brazil

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight titleholder Ronda Rousey will reportedly put her strap on the line against undefeated 135-pound contender Bethe Correia in the upcoming UFC 190 pay-per-view (PPV) main event, expected to go down inside HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Aug. 1, 2015.

That's according to Brazilian outlet Tatame (via MMA Fighting).

Rousey (11-0) has not shied away from headlining an event in Brazil, which would give her the opportunity to "vindicate her friends" in hostile territory, a la Rocky IV (see those comments here). "Rowdy" has been gunning for the Brazilian for several months, even demanding the fight from UFC President Dana White.

She's not the only one with an ax to grind.

Correia (9-0) has been talking a substantial amount of trash, calling Rousey a "selfish champion" who cares more about movies than mixed martial arts (MMA). To her credit, "Pitbull" has put her money where her mouth is, defeating the champ's stablemates, Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler, in consecutive fights.

One more for the hat trick.

That leaves fellow top contenders Jessica Eye and Holy Holm out in the cold, though you could make the argument that a Eye vs. Holm showdown for the right to challenge for the bantamweight belt would be equally compelling. It would also give the promotion more time to work on this.

Viva, Brazil!
