UFC 185 injuries and medical suspensions sideline Pettis, Dos Anjos

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently tied a ribbon around its UFC 185: "Pettis vs. Dos Anjos" pay-per-view (PPV) mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which took place last Saturday night (March 14, 2015) inside American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

There were no survivors, at least on the suspension front.

Newly-crowned lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos upset Anthony Pettis in the main event (watch it), but that didn't stop him from getting suspended along with "Showtime," who also earned a couple of weeks off for injuries (like this one) sustained in "The Lone Star State."

That's not all.

Here is the complete list of UFC 185 injuries and medical suspensions from Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (via MMA Fighting):

Roger Narvaez: Suspended indefinitely
Josh Copeland: Suspended indefinitely
Ryan Benoit: Suspended indefinitely
Jake Lindsey: Suspended indefinitely
Larissa Pacheco: Suspended indefinitely
Sam Stout: Suspended until 5/14
Carla Esparza: Suspended until 4/14
Sergio Pettis: Suspended until 4/12
Anthony Pettis: Suspended until 4/04
Matt Brown: Suspended until 4/04
Rafael dos Anjos: Suspended until 3/30
Johny Hendricks: Suspended until 3/24
Alistair Overeem: Suspended until 3/24
Roy Nelson: Suspended until 3/24
Henry Cejudo: Suspended until 3/24
Chris Cariaso: Suspended until 3/24
Jared Rosholt: Suspended until 3/24
Joanna Jedrzejczyk: Suspended until 3/22
Ross Pearson: Suspended until 3/22
Elias Theodorou: Suspended until 3/22
Beneil Dariush: Suspended until 3/22
Daron Cruickshank: Suspended until 3/22
Joseph Duffy: Suspended until 3/22
Germaine de Randamie: Suspended until 3/22

Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases. In addition, not all injuries are recorded during the post-fight examination and often times surface in follow-up tests.
