"It remains to be seen. Of course, I will be cheering for him. Like I said, I know CM Punk, it's not like we are the best of friends, but I wish him well. I will be real excited to see his (UFC) debut."
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) legend "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is intrigued by Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) signing former WWE star CM Punk, but the "Texas Rattlesnake" is not sure how Punk will fare inside the Octagon.
Speaking with AXS TV's Bas Rutten on a recent Inside MMA segment, Austin noted that he will be rooting for Punk, but he is not sure his professional wrestling savvy will do him any good once the cage door locks behind him.
"Stone Cold" went on to say that he would have loved to at least try to compete in mixed martial arts (MMA) had the sport evolved to what it is today back in his athletic heyday. He also indicated that fellow wrestlers "The Undertaker" and Kurt Angle may have been able to throw down back in the day as well.
As for CM Punk, UFC brass have yet to announce any opponent or date for the former wrestler's debut, but it was recently reported that the former WWE champ will be fighting at 170-pounds in the UFC. Lorenzo Fertitta also guaranteed that the media will certainly know the opponent taking on Punk inside the Octagon.
Any guesses as to who he will face?
