UFC 185 results: Joanna Jedrzejczyk sprawls, brawls and crushes Carla Esparza, wins Strawweight title

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The first-ever Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's Strawweight champion, Carla Esparza, tonight (Sat., March 14, 2015) made her first-ever 115-pound title defense against Joanna Jedrzejczyk in the co-main event of UFC 185, which took place inside American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

And it didn't appear that "Cookie Monster" even wanted to be there, standing emotionless in her corner as Jedrzejczyk menacingly paced furiously right across the Octagon.

Esparza flipped the switch, though, the moment the fight started and immediately went for a takedown. However, Jedrzejczyk sprawled and made her pay with a shot to the side of the face. Esparza would not be denied, though, and was successful on her second attempt ... and her third.

Jedrzejczyk landed a clean right hand on a break that appeared to wobble Esparza. Moments later, Jedrzejczyk would clip her again, while defending the repeated takedown attempts. Two huge right hands would land for Jedrzejczyk before the bell blared -- Esparza just couldn't deal with the size, strength and striking of the Polish technician.

Esparza implemented the same strategy to start the second, but Jedrzejczyk continued to sprawl and brawl. She put together a sick combination along the cage, while Esparza attempted futile takedowns. Jedrzejczyk stalked Esparza, who was tired and terribly wounded, drilling her jabs, overhands ... pretty much everything she wanted.

A furious attack with less than one minute along the cage dropped Esparza to her feet, finally, and the referee jumped in to stop the one-sided beatdown.

Savage stuff.
