Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will send Anthony Pettis into his second lightweight title defense against streaking division No. 1 contender Rafael dos Anjos at tonight's (Sat., March 14, 2015) UFC 185 pay-per-view (PPV) event, set for American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
Judging by this staredown, we're in for one helluva fight.
Pettis (18-2) is fresh off a second-round submission win over former Strikeforce titleholder Gilbert Melendez, which took place at the UFC 181 event last December in Las Vegas, Nevada. Prior to that, "Showtime" spent more than a year on the sidelines rehabbing a surgically-repaired knee.
He promised to have a busy 2015 and he certainly looks to be off on the right foot.
Waiting for him is Dos Anjos (23-7), winner of three straight, who likely got the nod over Khabib Nurmagomedov -- who holds a win over the Brazilian -- because "The Eagle" was sidelined with his own knee issues. Expect the Dagestani to be next in line for the UFC 185 main event winner -- but only if he can get past Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone at UFC 187.
