US Anti-Doping Agency: Mayweather vs. Pacquiao failed drug test carries four-year ban from boxing

As one of his contract stipulations, boxing icon Floyd Mayweather Jr. wanted strict drug testing performed ahead of his epic showdown against Manny Pacquiao, which takes place on May 2, 2015 inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Well, he got it.

The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) will subject both fighters to in- and out-of-competition screenings for performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs), which will include blood and urine tests (as well as CIR and EPO) under the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) code.

Which just so happens to carry a four-year ban for positive results.

"It's a strong statement of the importance of clean and safe competition to have these two fighters voluntarily agree to have a WADA level anti-doping program implemented for this fight," USADA Chief Executive Travis Tygart told the Los Angeles Times. "We commend them for their stand for clean sport and the message it sends to all those who want to compete clean at the highest levels of all sport."

USADA also handles drug testing programs for the Olympics.

Mayweather suggested Pacquiao was cycling off PEDs as far back as 2011, insisting that "Pac Man" was "slowly changing" in preparation for a "Money" fight (see those comments here). The Filipino denied any tomfoolery and is willing to prove it for their upcoming showdown.
