GLORY 19 results recap: Andy 'The Machine' Ristie dominates Steve Moxon in first round TKO win

Andy Ristie capped off the GLORY Superfight Series with a dominant victory over Steve Moxon. The win should earn him a lightweight title shot against Robin van Roosmalen.

GLORY Sports International

HAMPTON, Va. -- Andy Ristie came into his fight with Steve Moxon last night (Fri. Feb. 6, 2015) at GLORY 19 with one purpose: Score a swift and quick finish so he can get a crack at the lightweight title next.

Mission accomplished.

Ristie defeated Steve Moxon by technical knockout in the opening round in the headliner of the GLORY "Superfight Series."

"The plan was to finish this fight as fast as possible and go home and wait for the next fight with Robin van Roosmalen," Ristie told Luke Thomas in the post-fight interview, echoing the sentiments he told MMAMania earlier in the week. "He has my belt now. I have to take it."

"The Machine" dropped Moxon early with a flying knee in the corner and landed a right hand as Moxon was going to the ground. Moxon would make the standing eight count, and when the fight resumed, Ristie stunned the Australian with a straight left that backed him into the corner.

Not long after, Ristie connected on a big right hand to the body and Moxon went down to a knee. The Australian would show his resiliency once again, but Ristie was just too much for him.

Ristie landed a big right hand to knock down Moxon for the third and final time to end the fight and referee Chris Wagner called it off at the 2:43 mark of the first round.

The No. 1-ranked GLORY lightweight improves to 8-1 in GLORY and 47-4-1 overall.
