Five months after becoming the undisputed Bellator MMA lightweight champion by beating Michael Chandler for the second straight time, Will Brooks is set to try and defend his belt against Dave Jansen at Bellator 136 on April 15, 2015, in Irvine, California.
According to Bellator's website, the fight has been signed, sealed and soon-to-be delivered on SPIKE TV.
"Ill" knocked out Chandler in round four of their Bellator 131 title fight, a bout that saw this highly-unusual ending. The win came just six months after Brooks claimed the interim belt by defeating Chandler via split decision at Bellator 121.
As for Jansen, he earned his shot at the title by running the gauntlet and going a perfect three-for-three in Bellator's Season 7 lightweight tournament, including an impressive win over former welterweight title contender, Rick Hawn.
Also on the card, Joe Schilling looks to keep his momentum going from knocking out Melvin Manhoef at Bellator 131 (see it again here), taking on Rafael Carvalho in the co-main event slot.
Carvalho will carry with him a 10-fight win streak to sunny California as he looks to test his skills against one of the best stand up fighters in all of MMA.
