Thanks to numerous injuries, obscure Welterweight fighters Alan Jouban and Richard Walsh -- both of whom were looking to rebound from recent losses -- got a shot at the big time, competing on the UFC 184 pay-per-view (PPV) main card tonight (Feb. 28, 2015) from Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
And it was fun.
Walsh came out aggressive, pumping his jab and landing a nice kick to the body. Jouban returned fire with an inside leg kick before both fighters got busy in an exchange. Overhand right from Walsh landed flush on Jouban's jaw, but he absorbed it well. Walsh kept up the pressure as Jouban circled.
Jouban landed a hard shot to the liver, and moments later, he connected with standing elbow to the temple that dropped Walsh immediately alongside the cage. Walsh, on auto pilot, attempted to slide back up to his feet, but Jouban punished him on the way up and referee "Big" John McCarthy jumped in before Walsh -- on the craziest of crazy legs -- absorbed unnecessary damage.
Beautiful.
