Octagon warrior Gleison Tibau made his 25th appearance inside the eight-walled cage this evening (Sat., Feb. 28, 2015) at UFC 184, kicking off the pay-per-view (PPV) event against The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 12 winner, Tony Ferguson, inside Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
And even though he tied Matt Hughes for second place for most Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) appearances behind Tito Ortiz (27), the Brazilian could not bring home the bacon.
Ferguson came out of his corner fired up, looking to impress his hometown crowd. Tibau fired the first shot, though, a head kick that missed and put himself on the canvas. Ferguson hit with a leg kick, but Tibau made him pay with a stiff left.
In a busy exchange, punches flying, Ferguson clipped the Brazilian with a clean right hook behind the ear and he was on Queer Street. Tibau went to the ground, looking to clear the cob webs, but Ferguson battered him and eventually took his back and tapped Tibau in less than three minutes courtesy of a rear-naked choke.
Impressive stuff.
