Iowa Athletic Commission: Case against Josh Neer 'closed' because our rules don't cover gym fights

What happens in the gym, stays in the gym.

That's according to Iowa Athletic Commission Executive Director Joe Walsh, after closing the case against former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight Josh Neer, who was under investigation for the unsanctioned beat down of a Facebook troll.

"We've determined that we don't have anything in our rules that covers incidents that take place in a gym," Walsh told TMZ. "Because of that, there will be no further investigation. We've closed the case."

Neer released a video earlier this week showcasing his destruction of a mixed martial arts (MMA) wannabe who was tormenting him on social media (watch it). Reactions were mixed and the victim, Patrick Martin, insists he was "blindsided" and ambushed after the bell.

Read his full statement here.

The full video has yet to be released, but considering the digital age we live in, I'm sure it's just a matter of time.
