UFC 187: Rose Namajunas vs. Nina Ansaroff on tap for May 23 in Las Vegas

Esther Lin

Rose Namajunas looks to earn her first Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) win by taking on Nina Ansaroff at the upcoming UFC 187 mixed martial arts (MMA) event on May 23, 2015, from inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

UFC announced the bout on Thursday.

Namajunas (2-2) was dubbed "the next Ronda Rousey" after tearing through the competition on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 20. Unfortunately, she was outclassed by the more experienced Carla Esparza, who took home the third-round submission win and the inaugural 115-pound title.

Onward and upward.

Ansaroff (6-4) also came up empty in her Octagon debut, going down on points to Juliana de Lima Carneiro at UFC Fight Night 47 last November. Prior to her misstep against the Brazilian, "The Strina" had captured five in a row, all five of them finishes.

Who ya' got?

The stacked UFC 187 pay-per-view (PPV) fight card -- perhaps the promotion's best since UFC 100 -- will feature light heavyweight champion Jon Jones vs. Anthony Johnson in the main event, as well as Chris Weidman vs. Vitor Belfort in the championship co-main.
