Credit to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight Stipe Miocic (12-2) for being a realist.
The No. 4-ranked slugger will throw hands opposite No. 5-ranked Mark Hunt (10-9-1) at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 65 mixed martial arts (MMA) event "Down Under," scheduled for the Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide, South Australia, on May 10, 2015.
As expected, the "Super Samoan" has already written Miocic's eulogy, convinced the agile big man is going to sleep against the former K-1 champion. If that's the case, then at least the Ohioan has enough sense to make himself comfy during the transition.
From his conversation with Submission Radio:
"Listen man, he's one of the best in the world, he can say what he wants. I'm gonna just fight. That's what I do. I'll bring a pillow if he wants me to, but you know listen; he can say what he wants but I just look at it [as] thank you. ‘Cause I'm going to give you a hell of a fight. I hope he knows and he knows that I ain't backing down. I mean I definitely wouldn't want to stand with anyone in the heavyweight division toe-to-toe, you know I'd rather do my game, but [the Junior Dos Santos fight] definitely gives me more confidence, but you know I'm not going to sit there with my hands down and my chin out hoping, you know, show him I can take it."
Good idea.
Miocic was also dead and buried prior to his Junior dos Santos fight back at UFC on FOX 13, but then lasted five rounds against "Cigano" and even made an argument among some fans and pundits that he actually won the headlining decision (the judges disagreed).
But can he survive a 25-minute war against Hunt?
