UFC Fight Night 61 medical suspensions and injuries: Bigfoot Silva out two months following knockout loss to Frank Mir

Now that the dust has settled and the smoke has cleared, it's time to find out who's worse for the wear following the carnage at UFC Fight Night 61 last night in Brazil.

Jason da Silva-USA TODAY Sports

The Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission today issued its list of injuries and medical suspensions for the mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters who participated in UFC Fight Night 61, which took place last night (Sun., Feb. 22, 2015) inside Gigantinho Gymnasium in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

And the sentences weren't too bad, considering there were a few knockouts.

Chief among the suspensions is UFC heavyweight Antonio Silva, who is facing a two-month sit after suffering a first-round knockout at the hands of Frank Mir in the main event of the evening (watch full video highlights here).

As for Mir, he can jump back in there rather quickly, as he was levied a two-week suspension after putting in less than two minutes of work. Michael Johnson and Edson Barboza were both handed 45 days sits after their three-round lightweight bout (watch video highlights here).

That's not all.

Check out the full list of UFC Fight Night 61 injuries and medical suspensions (via MMA Weekly):

Frank Mir: Suspended 14 days with seven days no contact

Mike de la Torre: Suspended 14 days with seven days no contact
Tiago dos Santos: Suspended 45 days with 30 days no contact (because of pure violence!)
Douglas Silva de Andrade: Suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact
Cody Gibson: Suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact
Ivan Jorge: Suspended 14 days with seven days no contact
Josh Shockley: Suspended 14 days with seven days no contact

Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases. In addition, not all injuries are recorded during the post-fight examination and often times surface in follow-up tests.
