Rankings updated after UFC 183: Thiago Alves, Al Iaquinta crack Top 15, Kelvin Gastelum tumbles after first loss

Despite picking up a win over Ian McCall, John Lineker dropped down a spot in the flyweight division. But, it won't matter soon anyway, as his days at 125 pounds are over.

The official Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) rankings have been updated following UFC 183, which went down this past weekend (Sat., Jan. 31, 2015) at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

After two straight defeats, a broken leg and a year-long absence, Anderson Silva made a successful return to the Octagon, defeating Nick Diaz in the main event of the evening after 25 minutes of action (see it again here). Though he couldn't improve his 185-pound rankings position because he's already No. 1 behind the champion, the victory solidified "The Spider's"position.

Elsewhere on the card, Kelvin Gastelum suffered his first loss at the hands of Tyron Woodley (see it). The crushing defeat dropped him down three pegs to No. 10 in the welterweight division, though he likely be jockeying for a good position at middleweight in the near future.

In other movement, Al Iaquinta made his debut in the lightweight rankings, earning the No. 15 spot after defeating Joe Lauzon via technical knockout (video). That vote bumped Nate Diaz out of the Top 15. Thiago Alves also made his first appearance, as the former No. 1 contender earned the No. 13 spot at welterweight after his second-round knockout of Jordan Mein, who also fell out of the Top 15.
