Ronda Rousey and Cat Zingano pass UFC 184 drug tests

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

This shouldn't even be "news" but well, there you go.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has been cleared for her UFC 184 pay-per-view (PPV) main event opposite undefeated division No. 1 contender Cat Zingano later this month (Feb. 28, 2015) in Los Angeles, California.

Both "Rowdy" and "Alpha" passed random, out-of-competition drug tests (urine) administered by California State Athletic Commission (CSAC), according to MMA Fighting, and will be tested again on fight night for performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs).

A few weeks back, it would have seemed like a mere formality, but the way mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters are pissing hot these days, there are no more guarantees about who is clean and who is not. The good news is, the promotion is finally taking a stand.

Crisis averted ... for now.
