"DC" himself announced on "UFC Tonight" that he will meet Ryan Bader at UFC Fight Night 68 from the Smoothie King Center on June 6, 2015 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Cormier, who hails from "The Pelican State," suffered the first loss of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career at UFC 182 last month at the hands of bitter rival and current 205-pound king, Jon Jones (video highlights here).
Prior to the loss, "DC" was on a roll, winning 13 straight bouts in the heavyweight division before dropping down to light heavyweight where he won two in a row to earn his shot at the title.
Bader, who also has a loss to "Bones" on his record, recently edged out Phil Davis via split decision at UFC on FOX 14. That victory gave him a very quite and under the radar four-fight win streak against some rather formidable foes, including Rafael Cavalcante and Ovince St. Preux.
If "Darth" can manage to hand Cormier his second straight defeat, he could be staring down the barrel of his first-ever title shot in the very near future. A win for Daniel could also do wonders for his quest to get another shot at the division strap
UFC Fight Night 68 is scheduled to air on FOX Sports 1.
How about it, Manaics, who is your pick to come out on top in this intriguing battle between two of the most talented wrestlers at 205-pounds?
