Frankie Edgar vs. Urijah Faber set to headline UFC Fight Night 65 on May 16 in Manila

It's on!

A much-anticipated -- and often dreamed about -- fight between former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and former No. 1 bantamweight contender, Urijah Faber, will soon become a reality.

"UFC Tonight" confirmed today (Wed. Feb., 11, 2015) that the two men will meet in the center of the Octagon in a five-round featherweight bout when the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion touches down in the Philippines for the first time to stage an event in the city of Manila on May 16, 2015.

According to Faber's manager, Mike Roberts, this "legacy fight" is all about the fans (via MMA Fighting).

"This fight was hard to put together. I think Urijah and Frankie both know this is a legacy fight and wanted to do it for the fans. At least I know that's true for Urijah. It was the hardest fight to put together for me, ever."

Faber, the former World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) 145-pound champion, has been competing at bantamweight for the past four years. Despite his success in the lower weight class, "The California Kid" failed to find UFC gold in three attempts.

Currently on a two-fight win streak at 135-pounds, it seems Faber's move up is a one-time thing to challenge "The Answer" on Fox Sports 1, not a permanent move.

As for Edgar, since coming up short against featherweight king Jose Aldo at UFC 156 back in 2013, he's reeled of three consecutive wins in the division, including an impressive victory over Cub Swanson at UFC Fight Night 57 last November.

And after getting passed over for a rematch against "Junior" in favor of Conor McGregor, "The Answer" looks to lock up his status as the next title challenger with a win over Faber.
