UFC 183: Dana White makes good on promise to send Kelvin Gastelum to middleweight, John Lineker to bantamweight

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Top Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight contender Kelvin Gastelum failed to make weight for his UFC 183 pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event against Tyron Woodley, smashing the scale at a whopping 180 pounds and taking a precautionary trip to the hospital.

That's not all.

Flyweight title chaser and perennial scale failer John Lineker also came in heavy -- by five pounds -- for his FOX Sports 1 "Prelims" fight opposite Ian McCall, taking place last Saturday night (Jan. 31, 2015) inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada (full results here).

As a result, UFC President Dana White threatened to kick them both out of their respective divisions.

Immediately following the UFC 183 event, White quickly paid a visit to the trio of FOX Sports 1 analysts to let them know that he was about to make good on his promise.

On Kelvin Gastelum:

"Kelvin Gastelum, a kid that I love... clearly didn't make weight. It is what it is. I can't have this kid fight at 170 again and he's barely making weight or coming in 10 pounds over. You can't do it."

On John Lineker:

"He beat the No. 3 guy in the world and he will never fight in that weight class again. This guy can't make weight. What is this the fifth, sixth time he's failed to make weight? He's moving up. Look at the size of him! Why can't he make that weight? I don't understand."

Gastelum lost a boring split decision to "The Chosen One" (proof), while Lineker was able to outpoint "Uncle Creepy."

Good call by White?
