Frankie Edgar: Calling Jose Aldo the underdog against Conor McGregor at UFC 194 is 'ridiculous'

New, comments

Despite not feeling the PR love for his own upcoming bout against Chad Mendes at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 22 Finale on Dec. 11, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Frankie Edgar has no problem talking about the big title fight that goes down a day later.

And even though the oddsmakers -- for whatever reason -- are labeling Jose Aldo the underdog, Edgar picks the reigning featherweight champion to take out interim titleholder Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 194 on Dec. 12, 2015, also in "Sin City."

He breaks it down on the recent edition of MMA Noise:

"I'm going to go with Aldo, he's been on top for so long. I'm surprised that he's the underdog, I think that's kind of ridiculous, the guy hasn't lost in a really long time. Anything can happen, McGregor has definitely been holding his own in there and doing it in pretty good fashion. But, I think Aldo is going to take it. Yeah, you just can't talk about it if you don't back it up because you will be forgotten about and people won't want to hear what you're saying. He's been backing it up. I think he's had some good matchups for himself and some favorable situations where Chad's coming in on short notice, but, this is going to be the biggest test for him."

Edgar will be an eager observer come fight night.

If he can manage to get through Mendes, he will likely face the winner of the title unification match between "Notorious" and "Scarface."
