Muhammed Lawal is now $300,000 richer.
He earned it, too, by competing three times over the course of three days. After knocking out Brett McDermott back on Tuesday (replay), "King Mo" returned to Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, on New Year's Eve (Thurs., Dec. 31, 2015) to capture a unanimous decision win over Teodoras Aukstuolis.
That led to his heavyweight grand prix tournament final against Jiri Prochazka, who also needed a pair of Rizin wins to find his way to the final fight. Unfortunately, he was laid out while chasing the former Strikeforce champ across the ring, after Lawal slammed on the brakes and fired a one-hitter quitter.
The results speak for themselves.
It will be interesting to see if Lawal is matched up against Fedor Emelianenko in 2016, as "The Last Emperor" was also successful in his Rizin debut (video). For all the results and play-by-play from "The Land of the Rising Sun" click here.
