Video: Epic UFC 200 teaser trailer for the benchmark PPV event

New, comments

It's still a bit early, but right now, the UFC 200 pay-per-view (PPV) card is slowly starting to take shape.

The historic mixed martial arts (MMA) event will go down on July 9, 2016 inside the brand new MGM-AEG Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and it will likely feature a women's Bantamweight title rematch headliner between champion Holly Holm and Olympic bronze medalist in Judo, Ronda Rousey.

There's also potential for a title scrap between Featherweight juggernaut Conor McGregor and one of two opponents, Lightweight kingpin Rafael dos Anjos, or the well-rounded Frankie Edgar.

Despite the unpredictable nature of the sport -- seven new champions were crowned in the last 12 months -- there's no denying that 2015 was an immensely profitable year for UFC brass.

UFC 193, which was headlined by the aforementioned Rousey vs. Holm meeting, as well as a women's Strawweight title co-main event pitting Joanna Jedrzejczyk against Valerie Letourneau, blew up the box office.

Other incredible spectacles produced by Dana White and co. include UFC 189, which boasted a $7.2 million gate and UFC 190, which totaled 800,000 PPV buys.

UFC 200 will likely be donned with two title fights and a host of other intriguing matchups, with the hope it will top UFC 100, which holds the record for most PPV buys with 1.6 million back in July 2009.
