UFC contender Julianna Pena arrested, charged with two counts of assault following bar fight

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 20 champion and top Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight contender Julianna Pena was cuffed and stuffed over the weekend (Sun., Dec. 20, 2015) for her alleged role in a bar fight in Spokane, Washington.

MMA Fighting reports:

Pena was arrested and charged with two counts of assault by the Spokane (Wash.) Police Department, according to Cpl. Jordan Ferguson of the Spokane police department and booked into the Spokane County Jail at 2:53 a.m. Sunday morning. Ferguson said officers were called to a fight outside a bar in downtown Spokane. They investigated and then arrested Pena and another person. Pena identified herself as a professional fighter at the scene, Ferguson said.

She was released on $2,000 bail later that afternoon.

Pena (7-2), who missed all of 2014 with a knee injury, is now 3-0 inside the Octagon since making her UFC debut in late 2013. She was last seen taking a unanimous decision win over Jessica Eye at the UFC 192 pay-per-view (PPV) event in Houston, Texas.

As for her recent dust-up with Johnny Law, it's important to note Pena is innocent until proven guilty.

"The Venezuelan Vixen" is not currently booked to compete; however, she is a major player in the 135-pound division, ranked No. 6 in her class and likely one or two wins away from a potential title shot. UFC has yet to make an official statement.
