Fighters flabbergasted by weigh in results for UFC on FOX 17, Charles Oliveira misses again

Their reactions to the scale showed that the UFC on Fox 17 fighters who were announced as missing weight on their first attempt were utterly taken aback by surprise.

Danny Castillo, who has never missed weight in 26 professional mixed martial arts (MMA) appearances expressed shock and disbelief when Joe Rogan announced he'd missed weight by two pounds, demanding that the state athletic commission representative have a second look.

Despite repeating that he'd missed weight, Castillo took to social media to confirm the results were a mistake:

Middleweight veteran C.B. Dollaway also looked utterly perplexed at the results of the scale, coming in one pound over the 186-pound limit (185 pounds plus one pound for margin of error).

After removing his shorts, however, he weighed in at 185.5 pounds, with several people joking on social media that 1.5 pound underwear is pretty heavy.

The third offender of the night, however, Charles Oliveira, apparently legitimately missed weight, coming in at a staggering 150.5 pounds. Despite looking equally confused about the scale, he made no further attempts to cut weight or protest the results and will accept a 20 percent deduction of his fight purse.

Considering Oliveira made $43,000 at UFC Fight Night 74 in Saskatoon ($33,000 to show, $10,000 Reebok sponsorship), that amounts to a $6,600 fine, which is no chump change.

This is a disaster for Oliveira, who has missed weight three times before in his UFC career. If he remains with the promotion following UFC on Fox 17, it will likely be back at 155 pounds.
