It wasn't easy, but Urijah Faber got back in the win column last night (Sat. Dec. 12, 2015) by taking out a game Frankie Saenz in the headlining bout of the UFC 194 preliminary card on Fox Sports 1.
"The California Kid" proved he still has plenty left in the tank, though a red hot Saenz -- who was riding a seven-fight win streak going into the bantamweight bout -- proved to be a tough obstacle to overcome, giving Faber all he could handle for three rounds.
Utilizing inside kicks and good mat work, Saenz survived Faber's onslaught and near finish and made the former World Extreme Cagefighting Champion (WEC) work for the "W." He also gave "The California Kid" plenty hits to remember him by in defeat.
In the end, it simply wasn't enough, as the wily veteran Faber did enough to impress the judges and score the unanimous decision victory.
