UFC President Dana White issuing his opinion on a referee's judgement inside the Octagon? Blasphemous.
But it did last night (Fri., Dec. 11, 2015) at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 22 Finale, which took place inside "The Chelsea" at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada.
During the Lightweight final between Artem Lobov and Ryan Hall, there was a lengthy stalemate for a duration of the third frame, which resulted in not only disapproval from the mixed martial arts (MMA) fans in attendance, but also from White.
"I'll tell you what, if any of you saw what I tweeted at the end of the night, what drove me crazy was that Herb Dean let him stay on his back for the last three minutes standing. No damage was being done. Nobody was really advancing their position. And this is for everything â this is for The Ultimate Fighter. Stand them back up and...Herb I think is one of the best. I don't think he did his best tonight. There was no fighting in the last three minutes of that fight. That's irritating. You know, and I think that leaves a bad taste in everybody's mouth."
The end result (recap) was a less-than-stellar showing from Lobov, who had his attack thwarted by the jiu-jitsu specialist Hall.
From the get-go, it was the American who imposed his will on "The Russian Hammer," securing a takedown and maintaining control of the latter's back. In the later rounds, it was the same struggle, as Hall was aggressive in his efforts to get the fight to the ground, but he was unable to get an arm under the neck of Lobov for a choke.
Hall was awarded the six-figure contract and the honor of winning season 22 of the TUF competition.
