Finishes were in abundance up and down the UFC Fight Night 80 mixed martial arts (MMA) card last night (Thurs., Dec. 10, 2015) inside "The Chelsea" at Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada.
It was quite the night for fight fans as nine combatants produced finishes from the "Prelims" onward to the main event.
In the Fight Pass "Prelims" main event, welterweights Tim Means and John Howard slugged it out, but one man got the better of the other. It was clear who had the advantage on the feet heading into their bout and that was "The Dirty Bird."
Means had the more expansive toolbox to offer in "Sin City" yesterday, picking apart "Doomsday" with his trademark crisp striking game. His left hands landed at will, as did his kicks.
However, Howard was able to return fire with an offensive of his own, landing takedowns, but he just couldn't keep the taller Means down in round one.
Then, just a few seconds into round two, Howard pressured Means into backpedaling, for which the latter answered with a devastating left hook counter that sent the former careening into the canvas for the knockout victory and a "Performance of the Night" bonus.
