UFC Fight Night 77 injuries and medical suspensions: Dan Henderson escapes lengthy time out

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returned to the FOX Sports 1 network last Saturday night (Nov. 7, 2015) for the UFC Fight Night 77: "Belfort vs. Henderson" mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which took place inside Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Full results and play-by-play here.

As with most combat sports events, athletes tend to get hurt when they're repeatedly punched (and kicked) in the face. So it should come as no surprise to learn that 13 of the 26 combatants participating overseas were flagged for injuries sustained inside the Octagon.

As for how that affects their timeline for return may depend on the medical community.

Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases. In addition, not all injuries are recorded during the post-fight examination and often times surface in follow-up tests.
