UFC Fight Night 77 results: Glover Teixeira finishes Patrick Cummins with violent TKO

Glover Teixeira finished Patrick Cummins in emphatic fashion at UFC Fight Night 77 last night (Sat., Nov. 7, 2015) inside Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Teixeira swarmed Cummins with big punches in round two to score the technical knockout victory to win his second straight fight in the 205-pound division.

The official stoppage came at 1:12 of the second stanza.

Cummins secured two takedowns early on in the opening round, but Teixeria quickly got back up to his feet both times. The Brazilian deftly thwarted "Durkin's" next takedown attempt. The 36-year-old veteran began to connect on some solid punches, but the persistent wrestler landed his third takedown of the round. Teixeira popped back to his feet once again soon after. Cummins landed a few short uppercuts in the clinch, but nothing significant. As the round came to a close, Teixeira rocked Cummins with a right uppercut and a right hook, which had him badly hurt.

In the second, Teixeira came out storming on the still-dazed Cummins, landing powerful punches along the fence. Cummins attempted a desperate takedown, but Teixeira easily sprawled in defense.

Once they returned to their feet, the end drew near.

Teixeira clipped the 34-year-old former coffee barista with a right uppercut that backed him up into the fence. From there, the No. 4-ranked Light Heavyweight began teeing off and landed about 10 strikes before referee Herb Dean mercifully pulled him away from Cummins -- who was still standing -- to end the fight.

It was an excellent performance by Teixeira (24-4) who is now 6-2 in UFC and still a top contender in the crowded 205-pound division. Cummins (8-3) is now 4-3 in UFC competition.
