You see those Monster Energy drink cans that make their way into a majority of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) combatants' post-fight interviews, or the one's that are carefully situated in front of them at press conferences?
Well, they've signed global icon and women's bantamweight queen Ronda Rousey to an endorsement deal (via FOX Sports).
"We are excited to welcome Ronda to our team," Vice President of Sports Marketing at Monster Energy Mitch Covington said in a press release."Not only is she regarded as the world's most dominant athlete, but she is also an inspiration to all as one of the most iconic MMA fighters of all time with her unsurpassed drive, commitment, star power and worldwide crossover fan base that has made her a true champion."
"Rowdy" now joins an impressive collective of mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters, like light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and interim 145-pound titleholder Conor McGregor, who've signed individual endorsement deals with the popular energy drink brand.
It couldn't come at a better time for Rousey, whose stock is blossoming, as the bona fide movie star and celebrity, piles on the sponsorships, most recently debuting her first Carl's Jr spot back in August.
On the fight front, the Glendale Fight Club representative will look to hoist the Monster Energy can graciously (and her championship) if she is able to dispatch undefeated No. 1 contender Holly Holm at the UFC 193 pay-per-view (PPV) inside Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on Sat., Nov. 14, 2015.
